I'm Carole Young.

If you're struggling with trauma or chronic pain, know that you're not alone. I am a physiotherapist and trauma therapist offering treatment designed to meet your specific needs and help you find relief. Together, we'll work towards a healthier, empowered and happier you.

Why choose me?

I am one of a few physiotherapists in Australia who offer a comprehensive mind /body, trauma informed approach to therapy. When pain persists and becomes chronic, science tells us that it can be due to a sensitised and "hyper vigilant" nervous system.  This is a nervous system believing, and responding to, anxious, depressing or stressful thoughts.  The field of psychotherapy tells us that exploring unconsciously held thoughts and beliefs and their effect on the nervous system can provide vital clues to why pain persists. This may seem outside of the scope of practice for a physiotherapist, but for those physiotherapists who have done comprehensive training in a trauma informed approach and trauma therapies, it is a very powerful tool to help people in chronic pain because it can give us so much information about what is going on in the body.

The TRTP Approach

In my therapy practice, I often use the Richards Trauma Process (TRTP) as a comprehensive approach to help individuals overcome the lingering effects of emotional trauma. It is the inability to see trauma that keeps it going. By integrating elements from cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and neuroscience, I guide my clients through a structured process that addresses both the cognitive and physiological dimensions of their traumatic experiences. Creating a safe and supportive environment is paramount, allowing clients to explore their emotions and memories in a secure space.

Utilizing techniques such as guided visualization and somatic tools for nervous system regulation, my trauma therapy aims to facilitate the release and reprocessing of traumatic memories, ultimately promoting emotional healing and well-being. Through becoming aware of, and healing past trauma's, I  empower individuals on their journey towards resilience and recovery, fostering lasting positive change in their lives.
